When you need subsoil drainage
- Waterlogged lawns and gardens that stay wet after rain
- Damp walls and floors from water around the foundations
- Water building up behind retaining walls
- Basements, parking levels and lift pits that take in water
- New buildings and paving on sloping or clay sites
How a subsoil drain works
A trench is dug along the area that needs draining. A perforated drain pipe is laid in it, surrounded by stone and wrapped in geotextile fabric so soil doesn't block the pipe. Groundwater seeps into the pipe and runs to a suitable outlet, away from the building.
New builds and existing properties
Subsoil drainage is easiest to install during construction, alongside the building's other drainage. It can also be added to existing homes and buildings where water is causing damp or damage.
Areas we cover
We're based in Braamfontein and work across Johannesburg, including Braamfontein, Johannesburg CBD, Sandton, Randburg, Fourways, Midrand.
Questions about subsoil drainage
Is subsoil drainage the same as a stormwater drain?
No. Stormwater drains carry surface rainwater from roofs and paving. Subsoil drains collect water that has soaked into the ground.
